Ethics and corrections

The principles we follow in our journalism, and how we correct mistakes.

Last updated 5 October 2026

Independence

The Vissyion is a forum of independent journalists. Editorial decisions are taken by the newsroom alone; no advertiser, sponsor or political party influences what we write. Journalists declare any conflict of interest and do not cover subjects where they have one.

Accuracy and verification

Every fact is checked before publication, usually with at least two independent sources or one official source. We clearly separate news from opinion: pieces in the Opinion section express the author's view. When someone is accused, we ask for their response before publishing.

Sources

We protect the identity of sources who ask for anonymity, and grant anonymity only when there is no other way to obtain information of public interest.

Privacy and dignity

We respect people's privacy and dignity, especially of children, victims and people in distress. We do not publish the names or photos of minors or crime victims without a strong public-interest reason.

Advertising

Ads are always marked "Advertisement" and clearly separated from news. Sponsored content, if any, is labelled as such.

Corrections and right of reply

When we make a mistake we correct it quickly and openly: at the end of the article we note what changed and when. We do not delete articles to hide mistakes.

If you think we got something wrong, or wish to exercise your right of reply, write to [email protected] with the article's link and an explanation. We review every request and reply.
